Infinity War Review! (Mini-spoilers, longest review as well)
I don’t have all the figs....so I made some custom ones or just used the old ones, plus a couple new ones.. I’ll probably get some more back home.
So I watched the movie yesterday, but I was too tired to post a review, but I decided to do it today:
So here we are....10 years worth of buildup of a cinematic universe, which also marks the beginning of the end and a new beginning anew. Was it awesome? Totally. Was it insane? Absolutely. While I might not agree on the “most ambitious crossover in history”, this is by far the most biggest superhero/CBM movie ever, because we get more than 20 heroes assembled together from all parts.
In a certain way, this can be told as a heist movie like the Russos said....or in a way, a Thanos movie because he’s on his quest to gather the six stones. The opening involves him, in the timeline, is directly after the ending of Thor: Ragnarok, where the credits had the Sanctuary II approaching the Asgardian ship. I can tell that things don’t go to well from here...especially when the Black Order accompanies him as well. This movie is obviously set in 2018, both in real time and in-universe, two years after Civil War and four years after Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2.
End of story from here. With so much characters, some get nice developments, great acting and action scenes, as well as cool upgrades and colourful costumes. Standout moments definitely goes to both Sherlocks, Dr Strange and Iron Man namely, whose magic and tech work so well that you’ll be in awe, as well as Black Widow’s sick moves and Thor’s new axe and etc. This movie is also the combination of reunions, between old friends meeting again, lovers, and for some, rivalries with each other because it’s the first time meeting one another.
You’ll definitely love the visuals from start to finish, not just for the insane amount of details, locations, and how Thanos was CGIed so perfectly, it might be one of the expensive movies ever made, even for the MCU. The music gets a shout-out as well, because Infinity War is kinda tragic, dark and emotional, but sometimes light, cheerful and upbeat, thanks to Silvestri’s balance, he even brought back the first Avengers theme! (Might get this soundtrack, it really captures your feeling and soul, you’ll defiantly get fangasm out of it).
Last but not least, lots of twists and turns, surprises, special cameos, appearances, as well as blink and you’ll miss Easter eggs and hidden details.
My rating: Absolute 10/10. I will watch it again, shock value/factor is over 9000, a very cool, powerful villain, which in turn also help solved the Marvel formula and the villain problem. Looking forward to more MCU movies, with this summer’s Ant Man and the Wasp and next year’s Captain Marvel and Avengers 4.
Bonus: I know it’s long, believe these post credits if you will. I wrote this on Reddit too!
The first post credits has the X-Men and the Fantastic Four pop through, but Deadpool and Wolverine are both the first to say, “Where the f*** are we?”
*Cut to black screen*
Then we get a second one where Thanos is in a Marvel office, where he takes off his mask—-and it’s Kevin Feige! He is truly the supreme lord of the MCU.
Credits roll and last we see Stan Lee’s attempt at a British accent, singing a Dick Van Dyke song, but it’s terrible.
