Star Wars: The Last Jedi Review
HOLY EFFIN’ CRAP.
I’ve just finished seeing The Last Jedi and it’s already 1:30 pm here, midnight. Me and my friends attended this late screening, but we couldn’t afford to see the 3D version, so we saw the regular, 2D version instead.
Starting off, this is basically picking up where the Force Awakens left, set in 34 A.B.Y. The Resistance is under attack from the First Order, while Rey seeks out Luke, Leia and Poe strive to help defend the Resistance. Meanwhile Finn and Rose go on some sort of mission. Details end from here.
While I loved the performances, the visuals, the breathtaking aspects of the locations, awesome action, some really great humour, epic music thanks to Mr. Williams, and some great emotional moments, I have to say not everything was expected. There are lots of twists and turns in this eigth movie, and possibly more than the Empire Strikes Back. Luke and some characters have unexpected moments, and I’ve gotta say until the end, it’s leaving you with more theories and questions, although it does answer some of your questions left off from the previous one. And remember to stay tuned to the credits, it’s really friggin’ important for almost every Star Wars fan here.
My criticism is mainly toward some of the mystery that was built up towards this movie since the Force Awakens was...nothing, probably pointless. Maybe some game/novel/TV show could explain that? It’s really making me scratch my head and having more questions. Really wished some of Lucas’ vision or some of Legends material was implanted in here, that makes things interesting. (Mark Hamill is kinda right, actually, he was disappointed with Last Jedi. :P)
Rating: I’ll give this an 5.5/10. Still a pretty, fun, one heck of a enjoyable ride. And yes, Chewie does nearly eat a Porg.
P.S./Bonus: During one of the most epic moments featuring a character (not spoiling the name, see for yourselves), one guy from the crowd just basically shouts “Sweet Jesus” and the whole cinema including me laughed so hard. Seriously. It was really enjoyable for a short minute. And also, I wonder how would Leia ever be written out since Carrie Fisher’s passing last year in December?
