Here's to you Frank Farian
Running over 45 minutes late, 59005 'Kenneth J Painter' draws 22 generously loaded hoppers forming 6A74 Whatley to Theale, routed today via Westbury station, through Fairwood junction.
What?, oh, the caption... well OK, buckle up and I'll talk you through it;
I was first attracted to the yellow sign with the T on it (hard to miss really) - this gave rise to possibilities such as 'T Time', 'Time for T', 'Black T', looking at the van I then came up with 'T Van'. Then I considered the loco's name and explored well known Painters - this took me to Vincent Van Gogh and of course 'Van...Gogh'. As the vehicle is a Vauxhall Movano that naturally took us to 'Vauxhall Van Gogh' and eventually (looking at the graffiti on the wagons) to 'Van-dalism' and further and rather desperately to 'Vincent Van-Gogh-dalism'. My thoughts then turned to the number of items in the consist and the letter 'T', this gave rise to '22 is the T Total' and 'T for (twenty) two'. Back to Painter again, passing next to an NR van - 'a-ha' (Revelation) - Painter-Van, sounds a bit like "Painter Man", a 1978 hit for those German-based West Indian songbirds Boney M.
Born in 1941 in Kirn, Frank Farian (d. Jan 2024) was a German record producer and songwriter who in 1974 put together the disco-pop group Boney M and produced their records as well as writing many of the songs and performing the male vocal parts. Farian worked with many other music artists during his long career including producing an album for hard-rock howler Meatloaf in 1986, Farian was also involved in the creation of the infamous Milli Vanilli - probably best to leave it there then Pete.
For accuracy it should be pointed out that Boney M's version of "Painter Man" was a cover , the song being originally written in 1966 by Kenny Pickett and Eddie Phillips - I don't want to tempt another lawsuit, I've only just got Maca's lawyers off my back.... sorry again Paul, I know you didn't really write Octopus's Garden, I realise now that it was Ringo's fault.
