Alt-St. Martin

Old St. Martins church of Muffendorf in Bonn, Germany.

A church at Muffendorf, now a part of Bonn, is first documented in 913, though it was likely part of a royal estate that dates back to the Carolgians. Around 1200-1220, this curch was rebuilt with a T-shaped floor plan. Remaining largely unchanged (apart from restaurations and the addition of a sacristy between choir and northern nave in the 17th century) Alt St. Martin as among the oldest preserved churches in Bonn and an example of the Romanesque architecture of the Rhineland.
