Arco di Settimio Severo
Arch of Septimius Severus (203 A.D.) in Roma, Italy.
Triumphal arches are a well known example of monumental propaganda used by the Roman emperors, usually commemorating military achievements. The arch of Septimius Severus at the edge of the forum near the capitol was built as a monument to his and his sons' (Geta and Caracalla) victory over the Parthians. All mentions of Geta were, however, later erased after Caracalla had murdered his brother.
