Tracked for months, the burgeoning rebel alliance identified General Dene as a critical figure in counter-insurgent operations across the galaxy. He had risen fast and was considered a favorite to take over imperial military anti-rebel operations in the Outer Rim. He was uniquely competent, having successfully routed rebel cells in numerous conflicts. His assassination was necessary to stoke chaos in the upper imperial ranks and ensure the growing Rebellion’s freedom of operation in the outer rim. The hit was carried out on a disparate Imperial Communications/refueling station. The route was studied for months, and chosen as the recurring moment when security was the lightest. A rebel sniper team stalked the site for weeks, it was determined the kill had to be made at close range as he didn’t follow a single pattern. Sniping him from afar was also deemed impossible and attempts to bomb his ship had proven unsuccessful. So, instead the kill team, upon his arrival, snuck onto the perimeter and fired a single shot as a ship took off, masking the sound. Despite their close range, they were able to slip back into darkness and the countryside, while General Dene lay facedown in the snow with a blaster mark on the back of his head.
