The shuttering is necessary as the finished level of the sub-base will be much higher than the existing soil.
The pieces of paper are the same size as the slabs which we intend to use. They have been placed out to determine where the slabs need to go to join the path to the entrance.
The path will be constructed at 90 degrees to the house which means there needs to be a mini patio just inside the garden to join the path leading to the front door.
