Capel Celyn
Lucky enough to have a few solo days away to top up the zen and regain the photomojo.
First stop Capel Celyn, site of the notorious Tryweryn Flooding. In the 1960's Liverpool City Council and Parliament decided between themselves to flood part of the valley to provide water for Liverpool and the Wirral meaning that the Welsh speaking village of Capel Celyn would be submerged.
Although there was huge opposition in Parliament and many local protests, the plan was given the go-ahead.
When the valley was flooded in 1965, the village and its buildings, including the post office, the school, and a chapel with cemetery, were all lost. Twelve houses and farms were submerged, and 48 people of the 67 who lived in the valley lost their homes.
It's really no wonder that few people like the English!
