Ever been somewhere that keeps drawing you back for some completely indefinable reason?
Aberystwyth does that to me. Another is Criccieth. I have tried to explain the attraction but I can't. Many other places have better beaches, better shops, better proms but some places just have that certain something in the way that some people do too. You find yourself compelled to rediscover them, in different lights, different weathers and different seasons and no matter how hard you may try, you just can't keep away.
At dusk around the pier is a murmuration of starlings and it is a beautiful and bewildering sight. I haven't managed yet to capture a decent shot of it, but this picture gives a rough idea of the scale of it, showing about a fifth of the birds involved.
