Shutlingsloe.

Early start this morning and a trip to The Roaches with the idea of getting a few miles in the legs and hopefully a decent sunrise.

Weather looked like it wasn't going to be up to much on the way with thick dark cloud, snow, rain, fog, hail and then snow again. I did think about turning back or diverting to Padley Gorge as I hadn't brought my waterproofs.

As it began to get light and I got a little closer I could see a thin band of scarlet on the horizon so decided to continue. The weather seemed to be changing every few minutes and I had no idea what to expect.

Arrived just before sunrise and the sky was crimson. So much so I've not even attempted to edit them yet.

Made my way up to the trig point and watched in awe as the sun popped up above the horizon and the sky began to calm down. There was low snow clouds in all directions except along The Roaches and as the cloud moved the sun briefly lit up Shutlingsloe every few moments before disappearing again. Went as far as Doxey Pool then retraced my steps. -4 when I got back to the van and made a cuppa.

Only saw one other person and was back home for 10am. One of those mornings where it felt a real privilege to be out.
