Wagonwheel Z
The hot Z-South Seattle to Chicago zooms out of Becker with a pair of older veterans on the BNSF roster.
Both locomotives sport the old BNSF logo, sometimes referred to as the "wagonwheel". The swoosh came to be in 2005, so this makes for a scene almost out of 2004 instead of 2024.
Few SD70MACs are in active service, and even fewer are equipped with PTC, so to see one lead a Z train is a treat.
Outside of a couple scheduled photo events, I haven't been trackside to shoot a train since last May, so it was kind of fun to get out again. Not much to see trackside lately, GEs dominate the day, especially at Northtown.
Two years ago I shot the 9650 leading a vehicle train. flic.kr/p/2nGaJKf
At that time it was the first time shooting a circle-logo MAC leading a train, two years later, got another swing at it.
