Silver-studded Blue
Silver-studded Blue / plebejus argus. Lindrick Common, South Yorkshire. 20/06/20.
Male Silver-studded Blues definitely outnumbered females as they whizzed restlessly about the Common. I suspect the females were keeping a low profile down in the taller grasses and the males were actively trying to seek them out.
The male in my image had retreated into a grass tangle to rest after his exertions. With wings partially spread open he allowed me a good view of their beautiful blue colour and well defined black margins. A great encounter, one of many that day :-)
