Atlantic Grey Seal

Atlantic Grey Seal / halichoerus grypus. Donna Nook, Lincolnshire. 15/11/17.

‘BEACH URCHIN - AAAHHHHH.’

I kept getting glimpses of white fur and slight movements at the edge of a low dune, so kept my eye on the spot. After a long wait this tiny seal pup managed to raise it‘s head over the parapet for just a split second. It must have taken an enormous effort on it‘s part and I got the impression it was very small and weak. It couldn’t maintain position or progress any further, so soon slipped back down out of sight.

I was pleased to grab this single shot, even though it lacks the detail I would have liked. The pup was a bit too far away for the lens I was using.
