Orange Hawk Weed

Orange Hawk Weed / pilosella aurantiaca. 07/06/18.

'MARMITE ANYONE'.

In early summer I came across a small patch of Orange Hawk Weed plants. Their vibrant orange and yellow flowers looked stunning. I was thrilled by the discovery, as OHW is one of my all time favourite wildflowers. Although described as common, I never get to see much of it when I’m out and about. I love the cheerful flowers and significant hairiness of the plants themselves.

A fresh breeze scuppered any chance of achieving detailed close-ups as the flowers were constantly dancing and swaying in every direction.

I am quite pleased with the sense of movement captured in this image - though it's probably a bit of a Marmite shot and not to everyone’s taste.
