Monkey Orchid
Monkey Orchid / orchis simia. Hartslock NR, Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. 31/05/18.
My very first sighting of a Monkey Orchid ... considerably shorter and paler than the Hybrid Lady x Monkey Orchids growing nearby.
It was a fabulously unkempt little orchid with its jumble of small monkey-like flowers. Their curvy 'limbs and tails' pointed outwards randomly and for me, it was love at first sight. The Monkey Orchid is one I will commit to memory effortlessly and whenever I think of it, I will wear a smile!
