Marsh Tit DSC_4068
Marsh Tit / poecile palustris. Calke Park, Derbyshire. 05/12/16.
Monday dawned pleasantly crisp, frosty and sunny. This prompted me to go back to Calke Park and continue my quest to photograph Marsh Tits which are resident there.
The five hour session started slowly with only a few visits from MT's - these were frustratingly fast and brief however. Fortunately, other species came, lingered longer and helped pass the time.
(Sitting near ground level in very cold conditions, trying not to move too much is testing and should carry a health warning. Therefore all distractions from my growing discomfort were welcome!)
Four hours in and I had achieved some more reasonable images of GSWs, and Nuthatch but little else and certainly not the much desired shots of Marsh Tits I had in mind.
The urge to head home grew too much and I'd detached my lens hood and retracted the zoom in readiness to pack up.
Suddenly, as if by magic, this Marsh Tit appeared on the scene and took a keen interest in some sunflower hearts I had put down.
Bingo! We were both happy :-)
