In 1966, I bought my first 33⅓ LP record album….Chet Atkins’ “Guitar Country” recorded at RCA Victor’s “Nashville Sound” Studio. Not only was the album recorded in stereo, but it also used RCA’s newly developed Dynagroove process, “which provides a spectacular improvement in the sound quality” according to the album jacket. The sound quality was somewhat limited by my Westinghouse Hi-Fi, but it sounded like heaven compared to 45 rpm's on a portable record player. Years later I upgraded to the Sony PS-X700 turntable in the image above. Now it’s all been replace by streaming music that truly produces superb music quality, but still, there’s something special about watching a stylus set down on a spinning disk, a short pause, and then the magic....
