Sunset at Triglavski dom na Kredarici, 2516m,

After ascending Triglav, 2864m, via the Tominskova Pot, we decided to take a break at this warm and friendly mountain hut. We could have carried on down, but it was a lovely hut experience and meant we could take our time and absorb all the beautiful vistas the following day. Plus, it was my little sisters and her husbands first via ferrata holiday and the first Slovenian holiday for all 4 of us, so it would have been a shame not to fully indulge ourselves :-P.

"Tomlinskova Pot. This is the classic Triglav route, regarded as the most beautiful and the most frequented, though not the easiest northern approach" (p. 114)

Starting altitude: 1015m. Height difference: 1849m (p.113)

Vrata Valley to Kredarici 5h. Kredarici to summit 1.30h. (p.118)

Extracts taken from Sidarta Guides: Mountaineering in Slovenia: The Julian Alp: The Kamnik & Savinja Alps: The Karavanke. By Tine Mihelic. 2003,2007.

It is a beautifully written and impassioned guidebook.
