Heartbreak and Rage: Ten Years Under Sun Myung Moon
This video clip is a summary of the contents of my book, Heartbreak and Rage: Ten Years Under Sun Myung Moon, A Cult Survivor's Memoir. The book recounts my experiences from 1976 to 1986, in which I was misled into joining a group I originally thought existed only in the San Francisco-Bay Area, but which turned out to be part of the world-wide Unification Church of the Reverend Sun Myung Moon, a Korean cult leader who claims to be the Messiah. During those 10 years I traveled all over the United States, as well as to Canada and England. I was called upon to sell flowers and trinkets at all hours of the day and night to support the Unification Church, which is often called the "Moonies". I was "matched" by the Rev. Moon to a woman I did not know in a ceremony where he basically just picked her out of a crowd of believers at random. Later, I was supposedly "married" to her in a mass wedding at Madison Square Garden in New York, but I was never permitted to live with her. In 1986 I finally left the cult. This is my story.
