Named for Robert Bixler
Wheeling & Lake Erie GP35 No. 109 is notable for a couple of reasons. It was the first GP35 that was converted to a chopped nose when it was rebuilt in April 2007. It also has been named in honor of the late Robert Bixler, one of the founding members of the Orrville Railroad Heritage Society. For many years the ORHS sponsored excursion trains that used W&LE tracks. No. 109 and its train are shown in Mogadore, Ohio. (Scanned from slide)
