Watercolor Sending You Valentine's Day Hugs

The challenge for SSSFlickrChallenge#35 is all about watercolor. The SSS Monday Challenge is "new." Well I decided to try a new-to-me product/technique that Kristina Werner demo'ed at the Create Event this fall. I used a Molotow masking pen to trace the negative of the scripty word die cut. Once it was dry, I used a few colors from the Kuretake Gansai watercolor kit to make an ombre background. I tried to do a little water splatter and then lift color with a paper towel, but it really wasn't as visible as it is with Distress Inks. So I used a little bit of perfect pearls solution and flicked that on for some interest. Of course, it's impossible to see the sparkly shiny splatter in the picture. Finished off the sentiment stamping the rest in black ink, and then added some sequins. The Molotow masking is pretty great. It worked perfectly. Just have to make sure the paint is fully dry before you rub off the masking material.

SSS Products: Sending Die, Sending and Wishing stamp set, Moonshine sequin mix, smoke card stock.
