Model of an Architecturally Exposed Structural Cast Steel Joint Mechanism

Another CAST CONNEX and Renzo Piano Building Workshop collaboration, this time with our friends at Buro Happold.

 

This is a 1:1 scale model of an architecturally exposed structural cast steel joint mechanism we designed that will allow a steel stair support structure hung from a base isolated building to go along for the ride should an earthquake occur.
