Sanddorn (Hippophaë rhamnoides), auch Weidendorn, Dünendorn, Audorn, Fasanenbeere, Haffdorn, Rote Schlehe und Sandbeere genannt, ist eine Pflanzenart aus der Gattung der Sanddorne (Hippophaë) innerhalb der Familie der Ölweidengewächse (Elaeagnaceae). Der botanische Gattungsname Hippophae enthält die beiden griechischen Wörter hippos (Pferd) und phaes (leuchtend). Der Artname rhamnoides geht auf das Wort rhamnus zurück, was Dorn bedeutet und auf die Bewehrung des Sanddorns Bezug nimmt.
