CFRNA aka FRnA Medal, 1923, reverse
The Reverse shows a central Medallion, bearing a relief Map of Europe flaging the Routes of the Company, two Bréguet-SPAD biplanes above, circumscribed with the names of the towns served: 'PARIS PRAGUE VARSOVIE VIENNE BUDAPEST BELGRADE BUCAREST CONSTANTINOPLE’, externally circumscribed ‘COMPAGNIE FRANCO ROUMAINE DE NAVIGATION AERIENNE’ and inscribed below ‘FONDEE EN AVRIL 1920 PAR ARISTIDE BLANK’ (Founded in April 1920 by Aristide BLANK).
The CFRNA (abbreviated FRnA) was founded on 23 April 1920, and its first Service, Paris - Strasbourg, began in September 1920.
It was the World’s first international transcontinental Airline.
On 13 October 1921 Albert DEULLIN & Lionel DE MARMIER were welcomed at Bucharest-Pipera by King Ferdinand I of Romania, inaugurating the Paris-Bucharest Route.
As the Symbol of Franco-Romanian Cooperation in the Field of Aviation, the CFRNA inaugurated on September 12th 1922, the first Passengers transcontinental aerial Link between Paris (Bourget) - Strasbourg (Neuhof Polygone)- Prague (Kbely)- Varsovie (Mokotov)- Vienne - Budapest - Belgrade - Bucarest (Băneasa) – Istanbul.
This Company was also the First in the World to operate a international Night Flight with Passengers (September, 10th 1923).
1925, January the 1st, the Company changed its Name to "Compagnie Internationale de Navigation Aérienne" or CIDNA, reflecting its growing Network.
On 7 October 1933, the CIDNA was One of the founding Constituents of Air France.
