Rule of Thirds

For this project we had to take photos that followed the rules of thirds. We had to take one horizontal photo and one vertical photo. The first is my vertical and the second is my horizontal.

Over the weekend, I went to Disneyland for my birthday so I decided to shoot some photos while I was there. The top photo is the castle in Disneyland. It was taken at about 1:00. When the photo is flipped the correct way, The tip top of the tallest tower is at the top right intersecting point of the 3x3 grid. I turned up the vibrance on the photo as well as adjusting the brightness and contrast.

The second photo is a rollercoaster at California Adventure. The Mickey Mouse head in the middle of the roller coaster is the focus of the photo so it was on one of the intersecting points. The photo was taken at 10:30 am. For this photo I adjusted the vibrance and saturation. I also adjusted the brightness and contrast. I then put both of the photos on a single sheet and rotated the first one to fit to fit on the sheet.

This project was hard because I'm used to shooting things dead center. This made me think about angles and where to place my subject. This project also taught me about negative and positive space. I had to crop the sky out or crop some extra stuff off the sides to make it work. However, even though the project was a little difficult, it helped me learn a lot more about photography.
