Arsenal

Statue of Herbert Chapman.

Chapman was the man who transformed Arsenal from a mediocre club (a Sperz or West Ham for example), into a truly great club which dominated the 1930's. Chapman had previously led Huddersfield Town on their way to three consecutive league titles, and probably would have repeated the feat with Arsenal, winning championships in 1931 and 1933 before his premature death from pneumonia during the 33/34 season, which saw Arsenal finish as champions. The team he had built then completed the hat trick in 1935.
