Se trata de uno de los nueve fuertes que se construyeron en el siglo XIX, entre 1860 y 1884, para defender la frontera fijada en 1860 entre España y Marruecos por el Tratado de Wad Ras, firmado en Tetuán el 26 de abril de 1860, con el que se puso fin a la Guerra de África. Este tratado establecía los límites de Ceuta en los altos de la Sierra de Bullones y el barranco de Anyera. Sierra Bullones, constituye la frontera natural entre Ceuta y Marruecos. Está conformada por siete colinas, de forma y tamaño parecidas.
De los nueve fuertes que se construyeron sólo quedan siete, unidos por un sendero peatonal que recorre los puntos más altos de Sierra Bullones, en la línea fronteriza con Marruecos.
It is one of the nine forts that were built in the 19th century, between 1860 and 1884, to defend the border established in 1860 between Spain and Morocco by the Treaty of Wad Ras, signed in Tetouan on April 26, 1860, with the one that ended the War of Africa. This treaty established the limits of Ceuta in the highlands of the Sierra de Bullones and the ravine of Anyera. Sierra Bullones, constitutes the natural border between Ceuta and Morocco. It is made up of seven hills, of similar shape and size.
Of the nine forts that were built, only seven remain, joined by a pedestrian path that runs through the highest points of Sierra Bullones, on the border line with Morocco.
