Holland, Sr., Jerry Walker
EDEN- Jerry Walker Holland Sr., 62, of 518 Patrick Street, died Tuesday morning, April 25, 2006, at Morehead Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Haizlip Family Cemetery.
Mr. Holland was born in Rockingham County to the late George Walker and Madylin Jefferson Holland. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Holland was a graduate of Rockingham Community College and a graduate of Young Executives Institute at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was the plant manager at the Bedspread Greige Mill and the Decorative Bedding Plant on New Street in Eden. He retired from Fieldcrest Cannon in 1987. Following his retirement, he joined his son in their family building business until 1996, when he established Piedmont Rental Center, Inc., in Eden. Mr. Holland was a perfect husband and always a wonderful father and best friend.
Surviving are wife Martha Hazlip Holland of the home; son Jerry Holland Jr., and wife Rhonda of Eden; grandchildren, Jerry Walker Holland III of Eden and Jessica Holland of Eden; sister Faye Simel and husband Dr. Paul Simel of Greensboro; brother-in-law Dr. Thomas Hazlip Sr., and wife Delores of Raleigh; sister-in-law Ann Weaver of Greensboro; nephews, Dr. Thomas Hazlip Jr., of Banner Elk, Mark Pace of Clemmons, Vic Lawson of Atlanta, Ga.; niece Dr. Julie Hazlip of Charlottesville, Va.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, John Wesley Hazlip.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home, 518 Patrick Street in Eden.
