Washoe phacelia, Phacelia curvipes

Washoe phacelia, Phacelia curvipes, California, White Mountains, Pellisier Creek, Hammil Valley - Owens Valley drainage, elevation 1839 m (6035 ft).

...and one of my favorite shades of Phacelia.

This species ranges up and down the eastern (desert) slopes of the Pacific Crest from southern California to the central Sierra Nevada, as far north as southern Washoe County in Nevada, and eastward across the northern Mojave Desert and southern Great Basin Desert to southwestern Utah and northwestern Arizona. It is found at middle elevations in sagebrush, chaparral, and arid woodland habitats, and in wet years can often be found in dense colonies within the drip lines of pinyon pines in the White Mountains.
