Charming Boutiques, Specialty Stores and B&B @ Jim Thorpe, PA

Founded in 1818 and originally known as Mauch Chunk, Jim Thorpe is now named after the greatest athlete of all time, and there's plenty of rich history to discover. The elegant Victorian mansions which were once home to turn-of-the-century industrialist millionaires have been revitalized, and today house unique shops, dining, bed & breakfasts, museums, galleries and popular entertainment venues.

Established in 1830 the Hotel Switzerland is the oldest commercial building operating in Jim Thorpe. Celebrating over 180 years in existence this year. In the mid 1800’s The Switzerland stood between the Armbruster and Central hotels in the heart of the downtown.

Today it is the only surviving structure on old Hazard Square. The old Hotel offered the traveler a comfortable and affordable stay with the convenience of a pub and eatery all on the same premise.

Today the Hotel Switzerland continues the traditions set in the 19th century, offering comfortable and affordable lodging.
