Regeneration

These three pines stand against a background of forest, that is beginning to recover after a fire several years ago. I remember seeing this section shortly after fire burned it bare, minus the still standing, towering hulks, of tall trees. These trees in the foreground, gently lit by the setting sun,

were only slightly burned by the fire, but the patch of forest behind, with the skeletal remains of a once dense forest bares witness to the devastating holocaust. After years, the forest begins to regenerate itself, as the brush, and young trees attest, revealing that a continuous process of death and rebirth of the forest is constantly occurring in the Sierra Nevada.
