Restorative Cleaning

The first step in restoring and preserving a vintage camera presentation box. In this case, this 65-year-old box that I've recently acquired from Japan. Lots of dirt, soot, and grime (and some mold) are gently removed from the delicate paper surface.

I may try to remove the tape but my success rate is not always the best. In this case, preserving the original printed paper is more important than removing the tape. We'll see what results I get on a less obvious section of the box.

The trick for removing that grime? Mr. Clean Magic Eraser used ever so carefully.
