Strange World
“There you are, Sky, I was wondering where you had gone to.” Said Posh Bear as Sky sat down beside the other bears.
“I have been outside with the man on his two-wheeled thingy. It was warm outside and I saw lots of things. My word, Posh, that is one strange place outside.”
“How do you mean, strange, Sky?” Asked Barnaby looking up at his hero.
“Well, we went through all these things the man called fields, that are really just vast areas of green. I expected to see all sorts of animals, even some bears but I did not see anyone at all. I was just saying to Ellie that I purposefully looked out for pink elephants and you know what? I did not see one, not even one I tell you. Ellie, like me could not believe it, and when I told her that I saw no bears out there as well, I think she may have doubted that I did go out with the man.”
“That is amazing, Sky, what about those white bears like Icecap that enjoy the cold, I am sure she said she had some relatives here abouts?”
“No, not even another Icecap.”
“Do you think there were some outside there and they melted when it got warm?” asked Bertie.
“No, Bertie, I did not see any melts either. What I did see were those huge dog like things on legs and they had these horn things sticking out of their heads and they kept on shouting out for us to move. Well, I think that was what they were saying.”
“Did they sound their horns, Sky? You know, like the man used to in his four wheels thingy he used to drive?” Asked Posh Bear.
“No, Posh, not like the thing the man had, just kept on saying move from what I could see and they ate this green stuff on the ground as they walked. They did not look very excited to see me, but then they did not appear as very excitable green eating things anyway.”
“What else did you see, Sky?” Asked Barnaby.
“I saw some even bigger things on legs, they had long necks, not too long though. The man stopped by their green place and gave them some orange cylindrical things which they ate. Very rude though, they never said thank you.”
“Bad manners that, Sky, you would have thought they would say thanks and give him a smile.”
“No, Barnaby, not even a smile. I also saw some flying things. They were not as big as the ellicopter and they sat in trees and bushes and then they would take off and you could not hear their engine like on the ellicopter. It was crazy the way they flew about but they were good at stopping. I did not see one crash, like Ellie does, and they all landed the right way up, well from what I could tell anyway.”
“I have seen them I think when we go out with Ellie, for they fly away in panic as soon as Ellie takes off in the ellicopter.” Said Posh bear.
“That is enough to cause panic with anything or anyone, I always have my eyes closed.” Said Bertie.
“Will you go out with the man again, Sky?” Asked Barnaby.
“I might do; it was nice feeling the breeze travel through my fur. I also saw a few buzzy things but we did not speak. They were busy and I did not like to interrupt them.”
“Next time you go, Sky, may I come with you?” Asked Barnaby.
“Yes, I think you may like it, Barnaby. It is the sort of thing that a genius, like me, does.” Said Sky.
