A Day of Decisions
“Good morning Elli, unusual to find you awake so early.” Said Bertie as he and Sky sat down beside their pink fluffy friend.
“Good morning Sky, Bertie, how are you two?”
“I’m good thanks Elli, just waiting for Posh then we can discuss the serious honey situation.”
“I’m good too Elli, I think I may be the cause of the serious honey situation.” Grinned Sky licking his lips.
“I’ll hang around then if you don’t mind as I want to ask Posh Bear a question.”
“Sure, we don’t mind do we Sky?”
“No not at all. So, what are you doing awake Elli, this must be unusual for you this early?”
“It’s not that early Sky and anyway I can’t sleep as I have been asking myself a question that I don’t know the answer to, so Posh Bear seems like the obvious answer.”
“Sorry to hear that Elli, what is the problem?” Asked Bertie.
Just then Posh Bear appeared and sat down beside then and gave a stern stare at Sky.
“Good morning all, I just went to get some honey and it has all gone, Sky.” He said still staring.
“That’s strange Posh, there was one there when I got mine this morning.” Replied Sky.
“There was two there when I took mine.” Owned up Bertie.
“Excuse me interrupting this fascinating discussion on the honey situation but I was here first to speak with Posh.”
“Sorry Elli,” Echoed Sky and Bertie.
“What did you want Elli, and no I’m not flying with you again before you ask.”
“Huh! I wasn’t going to ask actually. I am thinking of moving to Australia or New Zealand as there is more space out there for a flying pioneer like myself. I have been trying to work out though, for you know I often fly upside down, well when I’m in Australia and as they, to us here are upside down, will that mean I have to fly downside up, to be upside down?”
“Just fly as you always do Elli, badly.” Said Posh. “I can see the merit of you moving there though Elli, it would be far safer… well for us anyway.”
“Posh, don’t be nasty to Elli, she only asked you a question.” Said Bertie.
“True, I’m sorry Elli. I don’t know the answer is the truth Elli as I can’t say that I really understand the question. I think though, that you’ll find flying there is the same as it is here. Once you are in the air it really won’t matter whether you are flying over this country or Australia, upside down will still be upside down.”
“I see, thank you Posh for your wisdom. If that is the case, I think I’ll stay here with you guys.”
“Why is that, Elli? You seemed so keen before.” Asked Bertie.
“Lots of reasons actually Bertie. Firstly, I don’t know the way to Australia as it could be turn left once in the air or could be turn right and that would depend if I parked upside down or not. Then, there is the problem of visits to the moon, it arrives on view when I am often asleep there, so that might not be good. No, I think I’ll stay right…” Elli yawned and was asleep.
“Just how does she do that? Chatting one second then asleep the next.” Asked Bertie scratching his head with his paw.
“I have no idea Bertie, what I am far more concerned about is our lack of honey and where it has all gone.” Said Posh looking at Sky again.
“No need to be concerned Posh, stay cool like me and it’ll all be sorted.” Said Sky smiling.
“Oh right, and who is going to sort it out then?”
“Me Posh, little me.” Said Sky looking out of the window.
“When is this going to happen so I can have some breakfast?”
“Any minute now Posh. I knew the man was going out early, so I ordered on his machine a few boxes of nature’s finest to be delivered and it looks like it has just turned up.”
They climbed up on the window sill and watched as four boxes of honey were rolled down the path towards the door by a man with a trolley.
“Don’t worry Posh, I told them to leave it by the door so we can bring it in a jar at a time through the cat flap as usual.”
“That’s brill Sky, you are a genius.” Exclaimed Bertie.
“I know Bertie, but I don’t like boasting.” Replied Sky.
“Just who is paying for all this Sky?”
“No idea Posh, I used that bit of plastic the man uses. Come on let us get busy and get this stacked away before the man returns.”
“But, but, but…” Said Posh.
“You sounded just like Elli’s ellicopter taking off then Posh. Come on let’s get busy.” Sky said laughing.
