Balinese penjors
A "penjor" is a decorative bamboo pole placed outside Balinese homes and businesses during a religious occasion such as "Galungan". Halfway up a penjor is a cage-like structure to place offerings in. Penjors symbolize the dominance of good over evil as well as a way to offer thanks to the gods. They also symbolize Mount Agung, a sacred volcano and the tallest mountain on Bali which is believed to be the home of the gods. (Do zoom in to see the series of penjors).
