Glass dome of Reichstag
The Reichstag building is home to Germany’s Parliament, the Bundestag. The classically pedimented and columned building was built in the 1890s, seriously damaged by fire in 1933, and restored to host the parliament of the newly reunified Germany in the 1990s. The Reichstag is now the second most visited attraction in Germany, not least because of the huge glass dome that was erected on the roof as a gesture to the original 1894 cupola, giving an impressive view over the city, especially at night.
