Branwen, Pistols

The Branwen is a light combat mecha is built for agility and speed at the cost of defense. Hidden jet boosters on its back, legs, and hips allow the Branwen to rush and dance around the battlefield and even hover for a short duration. Using its Laser Pistols to weaken opponents from range and its deadly Plasma Blade to dispatch even the toughest mechs, the Branwen's speedy, deadly efficiency is a force to be feared.

 

The pistols can mounted on hidden ports on the Branwen's hips for hands free shooting. The Plasma Blade has integrated jets to guide the blade when thrown, always returning it to it's owner. The Pistols and Blade can be holstered on the Branwen's back, just below the cockpit hatch.

And this one took a while, but hey! It's done! Finally got back into the good old hobby. I'm very happy with how this mecha turned out, which is kind of surprising since I forgot to include the cockpit until right at the end of the build. Also, I worked backwards against my normal design philosophy, starting with the frame instead of the weapon; so that was fun! Some parts of this are a little delicate (the sword and holstering system), but overall the Branwen is super poseable and expressive. Hopefully that is captured well here. I tried to focus more on this alien concept of "color blocking." I plan to improve that in future projects.
