Battle of the Bulge
This was the last major German offensive on the Western Front during World War II. It lasted from (Dec. 1944 - Jan. 1945). Most of the battle took place in the dense forested regions of Belgium, France, and Luxembourg. The German plan was to encircle and destroy the four Allies: United States, France, England, and Canada. This would hopefully lead the Allies to negotiate a potential peace treaty with Germany. However this was never the case. The German surprise was deadly and completely caught the Allies off guard. This German attack evidently had the highest casualties out of any other operation during the war. By the end of the battle, the Germans had lost a substantial amount of their armored vehicles, Luftwaffe aircrafts, and soldiers.
