Der Flickschupark ist benannt nach Albertine Flickschu, Witwe eines vermögenden Tuchfabrikanten, die nach ihrem Tod 1905 der Stadt ein Grundstück und die damals bedeutende Summe von170.000 Mark zur Schaffung einer frei zugänglichen Parkanlage mit Teich hinterließ. Der Flickschupark wurde bis 1920 fertiggestellt, und das Erbe ermöglichte zusätzlich die Anlage des Goetheparks.
