MEC Maine Central U18B #405 Rigby Yard, 12-19-79
In 1975 the Maine Central would buy 10 U18B's from GE. The U18B's were pretty much used system wide and were not well liked by the engineer's account of the single clasp brake shoe when they initially arrived. I knew a couple of engineer's who did the time cause they did the crime while running these, especially in the winter months. U18B #405 is sitting on one of the whisker tracks at Rigby Yard 2 days prior to the official start of winter 1979. All is gone today.
