MEC Maine Central Plow Extra GP-7 #564 Eastbound, Chamberlains, ME 03-07-77

In the winter of 1977 I bid in a relief job working at Keag for much of the season. Working 40 hours a week even with a 2 hour commute (1 hour each way)was better than betting the board and I was the senior man. Back then there were no guaranteed extra boards. Keith Grey the agent knew I was looking for any plow activity so when he called to let me know that a plow was running to the Keag I was soon out the door chasing the train from Lincoln to Keag prior to my shift starting at 1500. With GP7 #564 for power, the plow is working through Winn along Route 2. The next time I would photograph a plow on this line would be 40 years later. To say that things have changed would be an understatement as example this plow was operating at 30 mph, the Pan Am at 10 mph, enuf said.
