MEC Maine GP-7 Plow Extra Westbound, Dexter, ME 03-08-77
There was little snow to plow or flange on the return trip out of Foxcroft as Plow Extra 577 West passes through the small town of Dexter located about 15 miles away from the mainline at Newport Junction. This was one of the first Maine Central Branch to be abandoned and torn up by Guilford. The ROW today is owned by the DOT and is used as a trail for hikers, ATV's and the like. The 577 holds special memories as it was the first GP I was in and I became friends with both the engineer and fireman attending their services when they booked off after that final trip.
