Opening up the Penobscot

The winter of 2014/15 was a hard winter up here in the Pine Tree State. The Thunder Bay is opening up the Penobscot River, this view was taken from the East Side of the river neat the location of Eastern Fine Paper which at one time had 2 switches per day even when I work for the Maine Central, today all is gone with no visible signs of the railroad. Oh, yeah the Thunder Bay it was quite a workout for the old girl, advancing maybe half the length of the vessel backing up and making another charge. Ultimately Mother Nature lost but the win didn't come easy for the Thunder Bay and the 3 65 foot ice breakers that was assisting her.
