MEC Maine Central XW-2 GP-7 #569 Westbound Silvers Mills Foxcroft Branch 01-10-78
The Maine Central's Foxcroft Branch junctioned with the Mainline at Newport Junction extended 30 miles to Foxcroft. At one time the MEC and BAR actually had an interchange point at Foxcroft when the BAR operated a branch line to Greenville. The Foxcroft Branch was served out of Waterville by a local and service was provided 5 days of week. The primary source of revenue on the Foxcroft Branch was pulpwood that came out of the woodyard located in Foxcroft on tracks previously owned by the BAR.
With a pair of GP-7's and 22 cars of pulpwood XW-2 is rolling through Silvers Mills headed to the mainline. This branch was actually abandoned by Good Time Industries and the tracks were torn up. The Maine DOT bought the ROW and it is rail-banked just in case.
