Berlin Job meets OZ-1

In June of 1982 I left the CP and went to work for the Maine Central as a Agent-operator and Towerman eventually qualifying as a train dispatcher. I caught the agency at Gilman, Vermont while the regular man was on vacation. The sole purpose for this office to be open was the paper mill located there. They would bill out 4 or 5 loads a day Monday through Friday and once in awhile would require a Saturday switch. The headend brakeman lived in the next town over so I would often ride OZ-1 back to Bartlett and I would ride back with Dana usually stopping for an adult beverage along the way. We have just cleared the diamond at Whitefield (protected by a ball signal) and for about 2.5 miles we parallel the B&M's Berlin Subdivision. I just happened to have my camera with me today as the job out of Berlin NH with a rebuilt GP-18 is approaching us. Today the Berlin Sub has been torn up between Waumbek Junction and Berlin as have the paper mill.
