Wiscasset, ME

The final scheduled charters of the Maine Eastern are this weekend. I decided to go out for the first run of the morning out of Bath before the clouds rolled in. Here the 4898 is rolling into Wiscasset at one of my favorite spots on the Rockland Branch. The engineer told me this morning it is a good think they are leaving, problems with the 489 with the HEP unit , 488 continuous wheel slip action so on idle only reserve HEP protection and I would guess that the 764 has a water leak in a liner as it was smoking white smoke.
