BR-4 Royal Jct 9-16-82
Until the purchase of the Maine Central by Timothy Mellon you would never see foreign power on the Maine Central unless it was being moved as a box car. That all changed in 1982 when power from all three roads would be used anywhere on the combined system. BR-4 with a trio of B&M 38-2's is ready to take the home signal at Royal Jct on an early fall morning coming off the Lower Road, to the left is the Back Road which will meet up with the Lower Road in Waterville. Today the Back Road is the through route to Waterville and beyond, Pan Am still owns the track to Brunswick and the Maine DOT owns the railroad from Brunswick to Augusta but it is not operated as there is no traffic.
