Rockland January 1985

In 1985 I took a couple of weeks off and left Tucson to come home and visit friends and family, I had heard and read about the changes going on the Maine Central. Service to Rockland was provided as needed out of Rigby. Today's extra is in the yard right adjacent to the roundhouse where the agents office was by this time and you can see the remains of the train order signal with the lens removed standing guard. Eventually this line was sold to the State of Maine, rebuilt to Class 3 standards and has seen 3 different operator's operating it. Rumors say an RFP will be issued in 2015 and will likely bring in Operator No 4.
