skylerjune: @mcalot63 Honey, what someone considers personal is entirely up to the person in the moment. I'm not saying it was not premeditated. I clearly took the self-portrait. But this photo is incredibly personal to me. I thought for over a year before working up the courage to post it because what I was expressing here is not something I have ever expressed in my work publicly. The act if exposing your inner self IS very personal. This shot came about as of my feeling at the time (some big changes in my life). I had just gotten out of the shower, and stopped to shoot this In the middle of getting dressed, so no wardrobe actually. I looked over at my camera on a tripod (from something I had been photographing earlier in the day outside) and I sat down (without framing the shot which is why it's cut off) and shot this. No thought went into a pose, this was the 1st of 5 exposures, and I simply felt uncomfortable. At times, even a photographer feels exposed and vulnerable in front of the lens. No matter that this was not some planned out thing like you think (although I am glad you think it came out looking so polished despite the impromptu nature of this shot), it matters not if it's premeditated or spontaneous. A personal moment relies not always on those terms. Originally, this shot was simply a secret between me and my camera. Photography is my way of expression and I am glad I worked up the courage to share this very personal shot. Everyone's positive reaction to it has made this unnerving exposure of my inner feelings at that time worth it. Thank you so much for being one of those supportive people making this experience so rewarding.

minkwilliams: @skylerjune hey

binniebob12: Why did u post that

mcalot63: @skylerjune I'm somewhat enjoying this back and forth over your shot. It's a beautiful image. However, I had just finished reading about the theme of the day, and references were made to things like the pile of dirty laundry u never got done. That was almost exactly what was said regarding the theme "it's personal". So when I saw your entry, it threw me for a minute. Being singled out and recognized in this community is an honor. They get literally thousand's of entries. And yours is well deserved. I'm a beginner on a iPhone, so this is all new to me. However, I did spend 10 yrs, 3 of them signed to WB, in the music business so I'm not ignorant to doing photo sessions, videos, etc.. So, basically I jumped the gun on the critique of your work. Once again, congrats and I hope u found something new about yourself through posting a shot that was obviously very personal to you. Godspeed, Michael

skylerjune: @mcalot63 That is fantastic that you are getting into phone photography and Instagram. I got into this a little over a year ago, I think. It really is a lot of fun, sharing art and the sense of community. Glad you are a part of the fun! :) That is really neat you have spent 10 years in the music industry. I just started in that industry. It has been fun so far. Still so much I need to learn though. And thanks again!

skylerjune: @minkwilliams Hey Mink!

stepherzme: I think its beautiful and kudos to you for sharing it @skylerjune ♡
