4. A Reflection of Excellence.
My photo Technique: Colour Splash
My Album Theme: Surreal Colour
The making of this Photo:
I spent a lot of time thinking about what the perfect angle to take this photo at might be, because I knew I needed the reflection to be used from the same photo, but if not shot properly, the reflection my look silly. I chose an almost straight down POV in the end because I thought the reflection would look best that way. Next, I uploaded the photo into Photoshop and adjusted the colours to make them really POP, and even changed the colours a little bit to make them all contrast one another a little more than what the original photo portrayed. Then, I made a colour displacement map, and applied that to the copied reflection I had made in a new layer whilst the old layer had a black and while layer mask on it. Then after a few last minute adjustments, here we are!
What this photo offers:
In this photo there are many camera composition techniques used to enhance it's purpose. Here are a few: Simplicity is a part of this photo because the photo is very simple, just pencil crayons and their reflection. Contrast between the black and white and the colourful saturated reflection and also the pitch black background are definitely present . Balance is present because the photo has equal weighting on the top and bottom. There are also diagonals, all the pencil crayons lead the eye to the centre of the photo where you can truly see and appreciate the contract between the Black and White pencil crayons compared to their colourful reflections.
